What can you use the app for? is a simple application that helps you change your daily habits, one step at a time. Using, you establish a new behavior you’d like to make a habit, and then make a note each day when that behavior is complete. As you string multiple days of activity in a row, you’ll build long chains. Miss a day and you break the chain. The goal of the app is to encourage you to keep your chained behaviors going as long as possible. allows you to track any activity--reading, jogging, eating healthy, hitting the gym or whatever else you want to track helps you to monitor your performance as the days turn into weeks, and the weeks turn into months. The longer the chain, the more successful the goal. screenshot

What is the history and popularity of the app? was developed by Siirre Transplants, a studio that aims to create applications that encourage productivity and motivation. The application saw release in May of 2011, and reached the 10,000-user milestone in April 2012. The app is still relatively young, but has a dedicated dev team delivering frequent updates as continues to grow in popularity.

What are the differences to other apps? is designed for one specific purpose—tracking your daily habits. It’s not as flexible as some other bits of productivity software and won’t help you track complex goals, but is perfect for small, daily tasks that you are aspiring to complete. The app’s unique feature is its use of chains, which are built as you tick off tasks each day. Longer chains inspire you to keep going, in lieu of breaking the chain you’ve built. You can also create and join groups of people with similar goals.

Alternative Apps
How does the web app look and feel to use? is simple but effective. Buttons are large—all it takes is a quick double-click to start a new chain. You can title the chain whatever you want, and every seven chained days an automatic prompt will appear allowing you to share your progress on Facebook. Adding new chains takes only a click, and you can track as many chains as you care to monitor. Additionally, the “filled” chain icons can be swapped for themed icons—veggies for eating healthy or a belt for losing weight, for example. The only downside is the lack of dedicated mobile apps.

How does the registration process work?

You don’t have to put your real name in if you don’t want to, and an email address is not required. also has Facebook integration, so you can create an account directly through your Facebook identity if desired.

What does it cost to use the application? is free of charge and a mobile site is available for tracking progress via phone.
